Ashley Nichols passed away earlier this week. The Invicta FC and Legacy Fighting Alliance veteran was just 37 years old.
Jeff Harrison, a former coach of Nichols, confirmed the passing took place on Monday. Cause of death has yet to be revealed.
“She wanted to be the best,” Harrison wrote on social media. “Demons haunted her, but she wanted to be the best. My condolences to my friends that were her family, and to all the people out there that loved her.”
Nichols went 7-4 as a pro, including three consecutive wins. She went 2-1 while competing for Invicta FC.
Her last pro appearance came in November, besting Kyna Sisson at BTC 22: Battlezone. She also fought last year for LFA, downing Nadia Vera.
In 2016, Nichols had a Muay Thai match with Tiffany van Soest under the Lion Fight banner. She also started her MMA career vs. Randa Markos in 2013 at Wreck MMA 2.0.
Angela Hill, who trained with Nichols, said she was “heartbroken” upon hearing of the passing.
“I hope she’s at peace and sending nothing but love to her family, friends and team,” Hill added.
