The WWE contract for Drew McIntyre is expiring after WrestleMania 40. He was included in summer tour ads, but a report denies a new deal.
Drew McIntyre’s Contract Status
This week, WWE advertised European tour dates that are taking place after McIntyre’s contract is set to expire. He was included in these ads, which led to some speculation that Drew had re-signed with the company.
Sadly, this doesn’t seem to be the case. According to PWInsider Elite, the WWE is working under the impression that Drew will re-sign with them. This is the reason they have included him in their European tour ads.
The report adds that both McIntyre and WWE are hoping to ink a new contract soon. It’s important to note that this hasn’t been “finalized” yet. As such, this means there is still a chance that the discussions between them could break down.
Drew McIntyre & WrestleMania 40 Plans
As his new contract isn’t set in stone, Drew’s WrestleMania 40 plans are up in the air, too. McIntyre is scheduled to participate in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match. The winner gets a title shot for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the flagship event.
In addition, the WWE has seemingly set up a program with McIntyre and CM Punk, upon Punk’s return from injury. Drew has been openly poking fun at the fact that Punk missed out on his WM main event this year because he was injured during the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Drew also made it clear, through storylines, that he was the reason behind Punk’s injury. After all, The Best In The World suffered a torn tricep when Drew hit his Future Shock DDT during the Royal Rumble.
Punk isn’t expected to make a return until the summer of this year.
