UFC Results: Cory Sandhagen Dominates Rob Font
As most expected, Cory Sandhagen dominated Rob Font Saturday night at UFC on ESPN 50 from Nashville, Tennessee. The event marked the first in Nashville since 2019 and sixth overall.
Sandhagen, a former contender to the interim bantamweight championship, swept all five rounds on all three scorecards. With the win, he improved to 17-4 and has now won three straight since a loss to Petr Yan in 2021 for the title.
Font, who took the fight on short notice, fell to 20-7 overall and just 1-3 in his last four since a four-fight win streak.
Tatiana Suarez Leads Way With Main Card Finish
The main card featured three consecutive finishes, highlighted by a second round submission from Tatiana Suarez. In a women’s strawweight showdown, Suarez locked in a guillotine choke on Jessica Andrade to earn the win.
Suarez, a former winner on The Ultimate Fighter, is now 10-0 overall with half of those wins coming by way of submission.
Dustin Jacoby stopped Kennedy Nzechukwu in the first round and Diego Lopes locked in an armbar on Gavin Tucker in the opening two minutes to earn the win.
Rounding out the main card, Tanner Boser and Ludovit Klein were decision winners.
Decisions Dominate The Prelims
Four of the six prelim bouts went to the scorecards, including the main event between Kyler Phillips and Raoni Barcelos. After three rounds of action in the bantamweight division, Phillips was declared the winner.
Carlston Harris and Assu Aimabayev were winners by submission, while Billy Quarantillo, Cody Durden and Sean Woodson picked up decisions.
What Is Next
A return to Las Vegas for next Saturday is in order, as the UFC ship continues to push forward. Vicente Luque and Rafael dos Anjos meet in a welterweight main event from the Apex.
Khalil Rountree Jr. and Chris Daukaus are also set, along with the likes of Polyana Viana, Josh Parisian and Josh Friend.
