UFC Paris: Ciryl Gane Seeks Momentum Back In His Home Country

Ciryl Gane

For Ciryl Gane, UFC Paris presents a perfect opportunity to get back on track in the heavyweight division. Gane will square off with Sergey Spivak in the main event this Saturday live on ESPN+ from the Accor Arena in Paris, France.

UFC Paris: Ciryl Gane Looking To Get On Track

Ciryl Gane knows what it is like to headline an event in France.

Last year, he did just that as the UFC debuted in the country, topping Tai Tuivasa with a third round knockout.

Gane will look to do the same this Saturday when he meets Sergey Spivak in the main event of UFC Fight Night Paris live on ESPN+ from the Accor Arena in Paris, France.

The 33-year-old from La Roche-sur-Yon, France suffered a submission defeat at the hands of Jon Jones this past March for the vacant UFC heavyweight title. His only other defeat came by decision to former champion Francis Ngannou in 2022.

Prior to that, Gane downed Derrick Lewis by knockout to win the interim title and also bested the likes of Alexander Volkov, former champion Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Spivak will present quite the challenge, as the 28-year-old has won his last three fights. All three of those victories have come in either the first or second round, including a February “Performance of the Night” triumph by submission over Lewis.

He also owns wins over Augusto Sakai and Greg Hardy since suffering a loss to Tom Aspinall in 2021. That snapped a three-fight win streak, as Spivak has competed inside the Octagon since 2019.

UFC Paris: A Look At The Rest Of The Card

The card also features former champion Rose Namajunas battling Manon Fiorot in her flyweight debut and Benoit Saint-Denis squaring off with Thiago Moises. Volkan Oezdemir meets Bogdan Guskov in another featured fight.

Bantamweights Yanis Ghemmouri and Caolan Loughran will begin the main card. On the prelims, a pair of women’s bantamweight bouts are scheduled as Zarah Fairn dos Santos meets Jacqueline Cavalcanti and Joselyne Edwards fights Nora Comolle.

Ange Loosa vs. Rhys McKee, Farid Basharat vs. Kleydson Rodrigues and Morgan Charriere vs. Manolo Zecchini are other planned bouts for the event.
