With Money in the Bank (MITB) over, people are already looking forward to next month’s SummerSlam. Still, two superstars are focused on the MITB briefcases they won.
Damian Priest won the men’s briefcase to open the show and then later, Iyo Sky captured the women’s briefcase. There is a good chance at least one of them will be champion before the year ends.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that people are very high on Priest. Since the WWE superstar receives huge backstage praise, Priest earning a guaranteed title shot does make sense.
Priest came from NXT and was quickly put into a program teaming with Bad Bunny. Earlier in the year, the two found themselves at opposite sides in the ring.
On that occasion, Bad Bunny left Backlash with a victory thanks to the LWO, Carlito and Savio Vega. While Bad Bunny has been praised, there is tons of props for Priest working with someone who is not a wrestler.
It looked like WWE forgot about Priest after his rookie year on the main roster. Then, he was paired with The Judgement Day. Overall, the stable has received lots of praise. If it was not for The Bloodline, they would have been the top heel group in WWE.
During Money in the Bank, Finn Balor challenged Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. Since this took place after the Men’s MITB Ladder Match, there was a chance of a cash-in.
Priest did make his way to ringside, but he never cashed-in; which is a nice surprise. Although, Balor seemed to blame his loss on Priest, so there is a rift growing.
