Bellator Inks Sergio Pettis, Patchy Mix To New Contracts

Bellator MMA has announced new contract extensions for both bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis and interim titleholder Patchy Mix.

The two are expected to square off later this year to unify the titles.

Pettis, the brother of former UFC champion Anthony Pettis, is 23-5 overall and is coming off a win over reigning featherweight champion Patricio Pitbull, which marked his third straight victory over a champion.

The 29-year-old out of Roufusport also holds victories vs. Juan Archuleta and Kyoji Horiguchi. An injury forced him out of the Bantamweight Grand Prix and kept him on the sidelines for a year during 2022.

Mix would go on to claim the interim title by winning the same grand prix, picking up victories over Horiguchi, Magomedov Magomedov and Raufeon Stotts. A member of Xtreme Couture, the 29-year-old has won 18 of his 19 professional fights.

The contracts for Pettis and Mix are exclusive to the promotion and long-term deals, the release noted.

The promotion returns on Sunday, July 20 with Bellator x Rizin featuring Patricky Pitbull and AJ McKee from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
