Reigning PFL champion Brendan Loughnane will not get the chance to defend his title following a stunning upset loss to Jesus Pinedo. Loughnane was finished in the fight, and saw his chances at advancing end as well.
PFL Results: Brendan Loughnane Finished, Out Of Playoffs
It was a stunning main event loss for Brendan Loughnane at PFL 4, as the reigning featherweight champion was finished by Jesus Pinedo in the main event.
With the first round knockout loss live on ESPN, Loughnane saw his hopes of advancing to the semifinals end in the process. Instead, Pinedo punched his ticket into the final four.
The event took place from the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
In the co-main event, Movlid Khaybulaev earned a second round submission win over Tyler Diamond to join Pinedo, Bubba Jenkins and Gabriel Alves Braga in the semifinals.
Light Heavyweight Field Also Set
The light heavyweight semifinals were also set, as Josh Silveira earned the No. 1 seed thanks to a pair of first round finishes. Marthin Hamlet, Impa Kasanganay and Ty Flores will join the fray.
Hamlet and Silveira each scored main card wins on the event, while Braga and Kasanganay were winners on the ESPN+ prelims.
What Is Next?
PFL 5 takes place Friday night with reigning heavyweight champion Ante Delija and women’s featherweight winner Larissa Pacheco set for action.
Delija meets Maurice Greene in the main event live on ESPN and ESPN+, while Pacheco takes on Amber Leibrock.
Biaggio Ali Walsh, the grandson of Muhammad Ali, battles Travell Miller and Aspen Ladd fights Karolina Sobek.
