Drew Dober constantly is involved in bonus-money fights, and he returns to the Octagon Saturday at UFC 288 to take on Matt Frevola.
If you had to put money down on a fighter to score a bonus check at UFC 288, my money would be on Drew Dober.
Dober takes on Matt Frevola in the main event of the prelims, which air live on ESPN and ESPN+ from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The card features a bantamweight title fight between champion Aljamain Sterling and former titleholder Henry Cejudo, along with a five-round welterweight fight pitting Belal Muhammad against Gilbert Burns.
Bouts like Jessica Andrade vs. Yan Xiaonan and Kennedy Nzechukwu vs. Devin Clark are also sure to garner some bonus money, but Dober is a bonus machine.
Dober has scored six bonuses since 2020
Dober has been around the game in the UFC since 2013, but over the last three years, he has been involved in three “Fight of the Night” bouts and earned three more “Performance of the Night” fights.
Back in December, he knocked out Bobby Green in the second round in a “Fight of the Night” contest. The win was his third straight, with all three coming via finish.
Dober also locked up a performance bonus last July with his third round body shot knockout on Rafael Alves.
Over his last eight fights, Dober is 6-2 with all six wins coming by finish.
Frevola riding high coming in
Coming into the bout with Dober, Frevola has scored back-to-back first round finishes, improving to 10-3-1 overall. In November, he stopped Ottman Azaita.
Since joining the UFC, Frevola is 4-3-1 with four of those bouts being stopped early. He also earned a submission win on Dana White’s Contender Series to earn a contract.
Prediction: Dober inside the bell
With his experience and momentum, I expect Dober to come out guns-blazing as he looks for a finish early to halt any chance Frevola has of pulling off the win.
Take Dober inside of 2.5 rounds for the bet.
