UFC 288 Resume: Kennedy Nzechukwu Set To Explode

Kennedy Nzechukwu

One of the key UFC 288 prelims this Saturday night will see Kennedy Nzechukwu take on Devin Clark in the light heavyweight division.

While most of the eyes of the MMA world will be fixated on the UFC 288 main event this coming Saturday night, the prelims feature an interesting battle.

Kennedy Nzechukwu takes on Devin Clark from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The bout is scheduled to be the co-main event of the ESPN and ESPN+ prelims, and definitely should pack quite a punch to the evening.

The 30-year-old native of Nigeria is riding a two-fight win streak, having finished both Ion Cutelaba and Karl Roberson. The win over Cutelaba provided Nzechukwu his third fight-night bonus, as he earned a “Performance of the Night” honor.

Prior to the second round flying-knee finish, Nzechukwu stopped Roberson in the third with a flurry of elbows.

Nzechukwu is a proven finisher

Overall, he is 11-3 including 6-3 with the UFC. Four of those six wins have been finishes, with eight of the 11 in his career coming before the final bell.

Nzechukwu got his break as part of Dana White’s Contender Series, besting Dennis Bryant on his second invite back. He also won in 2017, but did not receive a contract at that time.

After the minor setback, Nzechukwu returned to the regional circuit and scored two knockout victories for XKO and Legacy Fighting Alliance.

Clark presents toughest challenge yet

His opponent, Clark, is 2-1 over his last three fights and 14-7 overall with four knockouts and one submission win. He topped Da Un Jung this past February via decision and also earned a 2022 win at heavyweight over William Knight.

Clark has faced a little higher level of competition with bouts vs. Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann on the resume, but he has been finished three times, including last August at the hands of Azamat Murzakanov.
