WWE used footage of an infamous Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz, during a promo spot to hype up the Rey Mysterio versus Dominik Mysterio match at WrestleMania 39. The company recently took the time and sent out an apology via a statement.
WWE Apology – Auschwitz Footage
The Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum recently sent out a tweet. It stated that the footage during WWE’s WM 39 promo for the son-versus-father match was difficult to call an “editing mistake”.

The organization went on to say that “exploiting” Auschwitz, a site that is a symbol of huge human tragedy insults the memory of all victims. They also tweeted it was “shameless”.
The promo video featured Dominik, who via the storyline was “arrested” late in 2022 for pushing his dad, Rey. In the video, he goes on to say that he served “hard” time and “survived”.
The promo then switches to a montage of prison photos. One of them being Auschwitz.
It’s important to remember that over one million people were killed at the hands of Nazis at this site. It was an awful oversite on the WWE’s part.
Regardless, WWE issued an apology via a statement to CNN. According to the statement, they had no knowledge of what was depicted in the promo, initially.
The apology also notes that as soon as the WWE learned about the Auschwitz footage, it was removed right away. In the statement, they formally said sorry for the error.
WWE Apology – Auschwitz Footage Was Noticed Right Away
As soon as the Auschwitz footage was aired, it was caught by fans. It also circled social media.
The mistake was a terrible one to make. However, WWE did the right thing by issuing an apology.
The company is known for its over-the-top storylines. Dominik turned on his father Rey, only to show up and confront his father outside the ring, on Christmas Eve.
Dominik was arrested and only spent a few hours in jail. Still, he’s been stating how he’s become a hardened criminal and how “prison has changed him”.
At the end of the day, his father ended up scoring a major win against his son on Night One of WrestleMania 39. He wasn’t the only one hitting a huge “win”.
WWE states that this year’s ‘Mania was the highest-grossing event in the promotion’s history. It drew 500 million views, as well as 11 million video hours consumed over the two-day event.
Over to the land of AEW, they continue to add to the roster. Yet another talent has become “All Elite”.
Skye Blue All Elite
Tony Khan recently announced on Twitter that the company has a new wrestler on the roster. Skye Blue is officially a part of AEW now.
The 23-year-old is from Chicago. She’s been working with AEW for about a year and began on Elevation and Dark.
More recently, she has been used on both AEW Rampage and Dynamite. With that said, she has picked up more wins during Elevation and Dark.
Since February, Blue has had bouts against Toni Storm, Saraya, and Ruby Soho. She did recently get some help from Riho and Willow Nightingale after The Outcasts attacked her.
Skye Blue’s Wrestling History
Skye dived into the world of wrestling in 2017 at the age of 17. In the past, she’s worked for other companies like Ring of Honor (ROH), OVW, and NWA.
She also wrestled in Chicago’s own AAW. In fact, she was a former AAW Women’s Champion!
How will she fair in the land of AEW? It looks like she may have quite a future in women’s wrestling up ahead.
On behalf of everyone here at WNZ, we wish Skye Blue all the success in the world. Now that she’s “All Elite” the “sky’s” the limit.
