The Young Bucks are two of the biggest stars in AEW right now. They also happen to be EVPs for the company. However, what is their current contract status with the promotion? WNZ has an update!
Young Bucks Contract Status
Nick and Matt Jackson helped start AEW, along with Tony Khan and others, back in 2019. Recent reports reveal the tag team is “in talks” about re-signing a new deal.

Fightful’s Sean Sapp reveals that The Bucks are currently talking to AEW about new contracts and possibly staying with the company for a longer time period. With that said, Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio recently chimed in on the tag team’s situation.
Young Bucks Contract Status – Not Even Close
According to Meltzer, The Young Buck’s AEW deal is up at the end of 2023. AEW wants to lock them in.
The company has contracted them. AEW is eager to re-sign them to a multi-year contract.
However, as of this writing, no negotiations have been made between the two parties. As per Dave, they are “not close” to a deal right now.
In addition to the gold they’ve scored in other companies over the years, The Young Bucks have made a major impact in AEW. Since the company’s inception, they’ve been World Tag Champions, twice, as well as World Trios Champions with their buddy, Kenny Omega.
The Young Bucks are a major attraction for the promotion. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next.
Meanwhile, AEW does have a ton of amazing talent. With that said, they are seemingly laser-focused on giving one particular wrestler a major push.
AEW Pushing Breakout Star
Tony Khan may have some plans for his AEW roster for 2023. Still, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio states all “eyes” are on one specific talent.

Fans should expect big things to happen for Konosuke Takeshita. The star moved to the U.S. last year to work with AEW, full-time.
Sounds like the move is about to pay off. According to Meltzer, the promotion plans to push Takeshita. While the Japanese wrestler has already been featured on TV in a major way, the company wants him to do more.
Not So Fast …
While Dave promises a push for Konosuke (and soon), fans will likely have to wait a little bit. Meltzer notes nothing will happen with him “this week”.
That’s because Bryan Danielson has to win every match until February 8th. However, AEW viewers will likely see some sort of main event build-up for Takeshita, shortly afterward.
At the young age of 27, Takeshita is a veteran of professional wrestling. He began training with DDT Pro Wrestling in 2011.
Konosuke made his All Elite Wrestling debut in 2021 during the non-televised event called “The House Always Wins”. He teamed up with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, as well as Michael Nakazawa for a 10-men match.
While they lost the match, Takeshita would also participate in an AEW YouTube bout on “Dark: Elevation”. He defeated Danny Limelight in that match.
Konosuke disappeared for a bit but then re-emerged back on the AEW scene in April 2022. Going up against Brandon Cutler, he scored a win in that match when all was said and done.
Looks like Takeshita has some good things in store for 2023. Only time will tell.
