After a surprise appearance, what is the NXT status of WWE superstar Shinsuke Nakamura? And, Chris Jericho is sticking with AEW.
Chris Jericho Re-Signs
Chris Jericho is not going anywhere at the moment. He just singed an extension with AEW, but with more responsibilities.
Besides wrestling, Jericho will also work more involved backstage. He is set to be a producer for matches and creative advisor.
For Jericho, re-signing with AEW was a no-brainer.
“I guess the simple answer is, ‘Why not?,’” said Jericho. “Things have been going so well in the company and I really do feel that this is my company.”
“It’s tattooed on my heart, so to speak. I’ve been here since day one, and there’s really no reason not to be here continuing forward.”
Recently, Jon Moxley signed a similar deal to stay with AEW.
Jon Moxley signs a 5 year contract extension w AEW while also now becoming mentor and training the younger talent.

When AEW was being created, Jericho was probably the biggest name to sign. Therefore, he became the inaugural AEW World Champion.
Since then, he has remained a key figure on TV. There have been several stables he represented and he continues to make history.
Currently, Jericho is the Ring Of Honor (ROH) World Champion. He won the title from Claudio Castagnoli last month.
The new deal will keep Jericho around until the first week of January 2026. He turns 52 years old soon, so he might end up retiring as part of AEW.
Shinsuke Nakamura – NXT Status
Lately, several main roster superstars have been appearing on NXT. And, NXT talent are also slowly being featured on RAW and SmackDown.
This past week saw Shinsuke Nakamura return to NXT. He defeated Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo.
According to a report from PWInsider, Nakamura is not done in NXT. While it is not clear, he is expected to stick around NXT for at least a few weeks.

Nakamura has not been seen on SmackDown in months. His last appearance was a loss to Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship.
For most of the year, Nakamura has rarely been used. His tag team partner, Rick Boogs, was injured during the opening match of WrestleMania 38.
Boogs suffered a torn quadriceps or a patellar tendon injury. Regardless, he has not returned and there is no word on when that might happen.
In NXT, Nakamura faired well. He won the NXT World Championship twice before joining the main roster.
