With all the talk of him no longer being a part of WWE…would AEW want Shane McMahon? And, after missing the Royal Rumble…where is Tyson Kidd?
Would AEW Want Shane McMahon
By now, we all know the debacle that was the men’s Royal Rumble…and the fallout from it. With him apparently gone from WWE…would AEW want Shane McMahon?
Whether Shane McMahon has left WWE or not is still not 100% clear. It’s been said he was quietly let go, and all WrestleMania plans for him were scrapped.
And yet, he did make an international trip on behalf of WWE after the Rumble…so, maybe Shane the employee is still around. Perhaps it’s just Shane, the mediocre Superstar, who is not?
For our purposes now, let’s assume McMahon has indeed exited the company run by his father.
If that is true…would AEW want Shane McMahon? And, would Shane McMahon want AEW?
The second part we cannot answer yet. But the first question, we might be able to…
Tony Khan recently spoke with Sports Illustrated, about a number of topics. One was reflecting on Keith Lee’s debut.
Another one brought up a potential free agent, Shane McMahon.
So, would Khan want Shane?
As he put it, if Shane called him, he would answer. He expects that, at a minimum, it would be a very engaging discussion.
However, Tony Khan went on to say that he didn’t think there was a fit…but never say never.
He did add that he has not heard from Shane McMahon…and he also does not expect to.
Whatever goes down in the McMahon family, it would be incredibly shocking to see one (or more) family member end up “working for the enemy”.
Where Is Tyson Kidd?
Speaking of the mess that was the Royal Rumble…many felt the women’s match was missing a vital producer. So where is Tyson Kidd?
We reported earlier that he missed the major event, and it was not unnoticed. Reports indicated that some potential surprises declined to work the match when they learned Tyson Kidd was not producing it.
Some even wondered if Kidd had quit the company.
According to a recent report via the Wrestling Observer, that is not the case at all.
It’s being said that Kidd, real name TJ Wilson, is simply taking time off from the grind.
Specifically, Kidd is using the down time to help heal is mangled neck.
The Observer report serves as a bit of a reminder. Fans mostly know (though some probably don’t, or have forgotten) that Kidd suffered a serious neck injury 7 years ago.
His injury could have left him paralyzed. That he is able to function and lead a normal life is a tremendous bit of good luck.
It is also likely at least in part because he was in great shape and had strong neck muscles.
However, the injury ended his in ring career…but it never goes away.
Given the severity of it, it can act up at times and require some time off to rest and recover.
Kidd did not quit. He was not fired.
So, where is Tyson Kidd? Probably home, recovering and getting ready to come back as good as ever.
