The IIconics being split up was shocking and Peyton Royce blames herself for what WWE did. Also, Natalya’s in-ring return is getting close.

Peyton Royce Takes Blame For The IIconics Split

WWE has been releasing a bunch of people for well over a year now. In particular, they have really gutted the women’s division.

Two people that were sent packing right after WrestleMania 37 were The IIconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay). Peyton, who now goes by Cassie Lee, feels the release could have been her fault.

While on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Cassie revealed she was looking for a singles run. She even ran the idea by Billie, who is now going by Jess.

“So I have never told anyone this and I hope Jess isn’t upset with me for saying this, but I wanted to go singles,” said Cassie. “There was just things I wanted to tick off of my bucket list as a singles competitor.”

“I vocalized that to Jess in January last year. I didn’t do anything about it.”

“And, I just told her where I was at, I didn’t try and get us broken up or something like that. It was during the PC era and Jess was out for a week.”

Peyton Royce Feel She’s At Fault

“I had this random singles match, I don’t even remember who it was against. Vince loved it, he said to me ‘you’re so good, what are we doing?’”

“I just said to him ‘look. If it is possible in future plans, I’m not saying right now, but in the future I would like to see what I can do on my own.’”

“I am so comfortable with Jess, we can conquer the world together. But, I wanted to see what I can do for myself.”

“So many people were like ‘why did they break you up? It was so stupid.’”

“I’m like I feel like it’s my fault because I wanted to push myself and see what I was capable of. But that might have been the worst decision that I made because nothing ever happened.”

Splitting the duo made no sense as neither were given a singles push. Instead, WWE should have kept the pair together.

The IIconics were a fun combination together. They even managed to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 35.

For now, neither have signed with a major promotion. AEW was looking into tag belts for the women’s division, so there are opportunities coming.

Natalya went down with an injury a few weeks ago during a match on RAW. She underwent surgery on her ankle and is healing fast.

While speaking on the Table Talk podcast, Natalya noted how she will be back inside a ring next month.

“I am two days away from running on the treadmill, so I’m very excited about that,” said Natalya. “I had screws and stuff drilled into my bone.”

“There were no broken bones, but it needed surgery. For some weird reason, I didn’t feel any pain.”

“And I think it was because we were with fans….hopefully soon. For me, just to be totally transparent, the surgery was Friday. I was walking with no crutches three days later.”

“I probably have another week before I get my stitches out. I’ve gotta let my bone heal a little bit.”

“But probably in the next little bit, probably under a month. We’ll see, obviously I still have to get a doctor’s clearance.”

Luckily, it seems likes Natalya will not be stripped of her tag title. She has been with WWE for over a decade and could be a lifer.

After her in-ring career is over, she could easily become a trainer or producer. She has so much knowledge of the business and could really elevate the women’s division.

Natalya’s husband, Tyson Kidd, become a producer after an accident ended his wrestling career. So far, he has been produced some great TV.
