Shocking news arrived this week as the WWE released a statement stating they had released Eric Bischoff as the manager of SmackDown Live. Now, Ringside Intel has obtained more information about the reason for his release.

If rumor is to be believed, Eric Bischoff was fired by Vince McMahon. If the rumor is accurate, it means that Bischoff did not request his release, but that the was let go because of various reasons.

The decision to release the former WCW president allegedly came during a creative meeting on Tuesday. There has been significant speculation about the reason for his release, but one of the most prominent reasons could be Fox’ involvement in SmackDown Live.

Fox Unhappy With SmackDown Live Executive Director

Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda reached out to Fox to find out about the reason for the release. They had the following to say:

“Significant promises were made that we don’t feel were upheld.”

In addition to stating unfulfilled promises as the reason for the release, Fox also mentioned “undisclosed personnel changes.” So, even though the WWE have not given an official reason, it seems that Fox has little problems revealing the truth behind the matter.

Reactions From the WWE Universe

Evidently, the opinions on social media are divided regarding Eric Bischoff’s release. Some fans saw it coming, while others are completely surprised. Of course, most fans are also surprised at the speed with which Bischoff was let go.

As you may imagine, some fans see an opportunity. AEW fans are already calling for Bischoff to join the rival brand. Now, that would be a true recapture of the Monday Night Wars!

Of course, there is a legion of fans who believe Bischoff should never be put in an executive director position. So, the firing did not come as a surprise to them.

There is also a legion of fans who feel desperate after the release of Eric Bischoff. They believe Vince will once again control everything and that this will destroy the product. Of course, the upcoming Crown Jewel event does not help either.

Which camp are you in? Do you believe Bischoff’s firing was justified? Or do you think he could have offered more to the brand?

Fox’ Power Over WWE

Since purchasing the rights to SmackDown Live, there have been major changes in the WWE. While the draft turned out quite differently than most people expected, it is no secret that Fox has some serious clout in the WWE at the moment.

Eric Bischoff’s firing could be one of the first big changes Fox implements to SmackDown Live and the WWE in general. As it stands, there are some huge differences between SmackDown and Raw at the moment, which certainly make Fox’ power clear.

It remains to be seen if Fox’ power will be a good or a bad thing for the WWE. Wrestling is quite the niche market, so if Fox is unfamiliar with the product, it could become a serious issue. Unfortunately, Eric Bischoff has already gone down in the process.
