‘-Last night on RAW, Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Seth Rollins enjoyed their final RAW segment before WrestleMania.
During the segment, Rollins got the better of The Beast, thanks in part to two low blows. Some might argue that the underhanded tactics don’t necessarily help Seth Rollins look stronger heading into the WrestleMania title match. However, it cannot be argued that Rollins left RAW on a positive note.
Now that the show is in the bag, word has come out that the segment was not always planned to go that way.
In fact, the segment was changed up late in the day by Vince McMahon himself.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, initially Brock Lesnar was planned to get the better of Rollins. Lesnar has been coming out on top against his challenger ever since the post-Rumble show. For whatever reason, Vince felt Rollins needed to be booked strong here (ignoring the low blows), and the segment certainly accomplished that.
Many fans expect Seth Rollins to leave Metlife Stadium as the new Universal Champion on Sunday.
-By now, everyone knows that the WWE Women’s Championships bout is the main event on Sunday.
By now, everyone should realize that the match is a winner take all affair, with both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championships on the line. Whomever wins the match on Sunday will leave with both belts.
This then begs the question-what is WWE’s plans for the dual title holder after WrestleMania? Will the belts be merged into one, giving us a unification?
The answer, from Wrestling Observer, isn’t crystal clear.
It seems that, at least for the short term following WrestleMania, the winner will carry both belts. This would likely mean she will defend them both at the same time.
There are not (at least, not yet) discussions geared toward consolidating the belts. It’s entirely possible that, at some point down the line, the dual champion drops one belt for as-yet-undetermined reasons, and things go back to how they were a week ago, with each brand having a unique women’s champion.
