One of the biggest surprises of the superstar shakeup was Jinder Mahal, who was the first person to be revealed during the WWE reshuffle on Raw. However, things would not go to brilliantly for Jinder, as he lost his United States Championship to Jeff Hardy during the first match on Monday Night Raw!
How Was the Match Between Jinder Mahal and Jeff Hardy?
The matches between Orton and Mahal tainted my view of his abilities a little, to be honest. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the match between Jinder Mahal and Jeff Hardy.
Hardy’s extensive experience certainly elevated Jinder during the match. Of course, Jinder has grown quite a bit as a serious competitor over the past couple of months. He was not ready to become champion in the beginning, but I believe he is now. The effort he put in at WrestleMania 34 compared to other competitors in the match certainly pulled me over the proverbial line.
What Does the Move to Raw Mean for Jinder?
Moving Jinder Mahal to Raw is a smart move by the WWE. Even though you might not like Jinder, the move is a good choice, despite anyone’s personal feelings surrounding Mahal or the fact the WWE wants to get him over with the Indian crowd.
One of the main things that bothered me about Mahal on the SmackDown Live roster is that there was absolutely nobody left for an interesting feud. Let’s face it, we have seen the Orton – Mahal match too many times. Putting him on Raw provides Mahal with a series of new opponents. Naturally, this could have a positive effect on Jinder’s career.
Will It Be Better for the WWE United States Champion to Be on Raw?
Moving Jinder Mahal to Raw does not only benefit Jinder’s career, it also has some benefits for the United States Championship. On the SmackDown Live roster, there was a serious lack of competitors for the title, leaving little to the imagination where pay-per-view defenses were concerned. However, with the title on Raw, there is a whole slew of competitors that could compete for the title!
