A recent storyline on SmackDown Live saw Daniel Bryan firing Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, building up to their feud for WrestleMania 34. However, this is not the first time the WWE has used the “you’re fired” line to further a storyline. Here are some of my favorites!
1. Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon

One of my favorites was the public firing of Shane and Stephanie McMahon. Shane and Stephanie played the roles of spoiled brats perfectly, and Vince indeed came out on top as the ruthless billionaire taking revenge. God, it was beautiful!
2. Paul Heyman

Heyman plays a prominent role in the WWE still, but he was fired by Vince McMahon at one point. The firing took place around the same time as the firing of Stephanie and Shane, who betrayed their father by going into direct competition with him. Heyman also played a part in the coup, leading to Vince to utter the infamous words “you’re fired!”
3. Eric Bischoff
While many people love Eric Bischoff, despite him trying to topple the WWE with his time at WCW, I cannot stand the man for some reason. Call it intuition, but there has always been something about Bischoff that rubs me the wrong way. Therefore, it is no surprise that Vince firing Bischoff is one of my all-time favorites.
4. Mick Foley

While I did not enjoy Foley being fired since he is one of my favorite wrestlers and honestly one of the most impressive wrestlers ever to step foot in the ring, I do find that Mick Foley’s firing in 1998 is one of the most memorable firings in the WWE. After losing to the Texas Rattlesnake Stone Cold Steve Austin, Vince would fire him. Of course, this made Foley turn from the bad guy to a loved wrestler, so it certainly contributed to his fan base!
5. Jim Ross
You cannot have a list with the best “you’re fired” lines from Vince McMahon and not mention Jim Ross. Like Mick Foley, Jim Ross was fired for storylines more than most wrestlers. Of course, Vince was not the only one who fired Jim Ross at one point, because even Raw interim manager John Laurinaitis fired Jim Ross. Poor Jim!
