Latest Update On Neville’s Contract Status

It has been remarkably quiet around Neville over the past couple of months. Unfortunately, I predicted a while ago that the WWE is likely to let Neville’s contract run out. It would seem like the WWE is doing just that at the moment, leaving us all wondering if Neville will ever come back.

Frozen Contract

The most recent news regarding Neville’s contract is from January of 2018 from Fightful. Backstage sources claim that Neville’s deal has been frozen, making most talents believe that the WWE is holding Neville until he comes back or they decide to fire him.

Bad News Barrett Chimes In

Neville’s status in the WWE remains a current topic in wrestling media since Bad News Barrett has also chimed into the situation. Barrett spoke candidly about the WWE and its misuse of individual wrestlers.

“They [WWE] misuse a lot of guys, there’s a lot of guys you could do more with but at the end of the day they pick the guys they want to go with and go with them.”

“I don’t think they purposely sabotage, I think there are limited spots to be at the top of the card or the highlighted guys – there are probably seven or eight guys where it’s like, ‘Ok these are our main guys going forward for the next six to twelve months’ and they need to be the guys getting the biggest reactions, being involved in the biggest storylines and stuff like that.”

Bad News Barrett had a lot to say about Neville too, showering the former Cruiserweight Champion with praise.

“He’s good enough to do whatever he wants.”

“He is a very rare performer where in WWE he absolutely fits the bill, in Japan he would fit the bill, in PWG he would fit the bill and in Brian Dixon’s All-Star wrestling he would fit the bill.”

“He’s somebody that is literally so talented he can do anything he wants. If he did make the decision to move on from WWE – I have no idea if he will or not – he can do whatever he wants to do.”

Nothing but kind words from Bad News Barrett for Neville, but that does not change the fact that the WWE is trying to keep things quiet around the WWE superstar. I believe they are holding Neville down, so when if does leave for another promotion, he won’t take too many wrestling fans with him.

Conclusion

I agree that Neville is probably one of the most misused superstars in the WWE and that he had the right to walk out. Even though we will never know what played out backstage, treating a star like Neville as a jobber to Enzo Amore was a big mistake! Now, the Cruiserweight Division is falling apart at the seams, so I hope the WWE will still try to mend bridges with Neville before it is truly too late.
