Sandra’s Favorite Patriotic Moments in WWE History

The WWE likes to honour America when they can, so it is no surprise that there have been numerous memorable patriotic moments. Curious what the most patriotic moments in WWE history are? Read on to discover our personal favourites!

Tribute to the Troops

One of the WWE events that certainly belongs in this list is the annual Tribute to the Troops. During this event, WWE superstars pay homage to the staunch protectors of freedom and liberty.

Tribute to the Troops has been going for years and it is certainly not something that will die down. Even though I’m not American myself, I do enjoy watching these every year and appreciate what the WWE does for the American army.

SmackDown After 9/11

Even though this is one of the more emotional patriotic moments, it did show that terrorism will never win. Despite suffering a devastating attack in the heart of America, the WWE contributed to unifying America after this senseless attack.

The Smackdown episode right after the 9/11 attack is certainly something that has stayed with me over the years. Even though it is quite some time ago now, it feels like it just happened yesterday.

John Cena Announces Osama Bin Laden Is Dead

One of the more hidden moments in WWE history, but quite a memorable one nonetheless. After the terror attacks America suffered, the announcement was received with pure joy and emotion. The announcement also seemed to have a profound effect on John Cena, who is known to be one of the biggest supporters of the U.S. military.

We the People!

Jack Swagger was known to make heel and face turns like the changing of the wind, but somehow he came off truly patriotic when he took on Rusev in 2014. The crowd certainly felt it too! Unfortunately, Jack Swagger has now left the WWE.

John Cena Entrance at WrestleMania 31

It is no surprise that many of the patriotic moments in the WWE can be attributed to John Cena. In addition to his Tribute to the Troops and other patriotic we already mentioned involving John Cena, we certainly cannot forget about his WrestleMania 31 entrance.

Mr. America

Hulk Hogan also has several patriotic moments to his name. One of the most memorable, in my humble opinion, is when Hulk Hogan appeared as Mr. America.

Mr. America was invented during a story-line with Hogan and Vince McMahon. Vince was forcing Hogan to sit out the rest of his contract, while he was prohibited from wrestling for another brand. Later, Stephanie McMahon signed a wrestler known as Mr. America, who was clearly Hulk Hogan in disguise. Needless to say, it drove Vince McMahon crazy.

The difference between the Hulk Hogan persona and Mr. America is that the Hulkster genuinely turned up the patriotism, even though Hogan is also considered patriotic. One thing is certain, I will always remember the lie detector test!

What is your favourite patriotic moment in WWE history? Is it one of the moments on the list, or is it something completely different? Be sure to post it in the comment section below!
