Fans would love to see big names such as Roman Reigns, John Cena, and CM Punk win. But what if WWE does something they’ve never done before? The Rock could be set to return to the Royal Rumble, to rewrite history and make a shocking return 24 years after his last appearance in this match.
The possibility of The Rock returning has set fans, official betting, and social media on fire. One fan, referencing the official 2025 Royal Rumble poster, tweeted: “Could this be a Rock reference? Imagine Rock enters the Rumble at #31 and eliminates Roman, who would’ve been the “winner.” McIntyre, as Rock’s hitman, could distract Roman as well. Then Rock can grant McIntyre a World Title shot opportunity.”

The Rock’s Shocking Entry
According to reports, the Rock’s WrestleMania status is still up in the air. But what if plans have already been set in motion? Imagine this: The Rock enters the Royal Rumble presented at the very last minute. As a Board Director of TKO, he could up the number of entrants to 31, step into the match himself as a participant, eliminate the final man standing in the ring, and claim victory. It would be Royal Rumble history.
On another note, on the podcast Keepin’ It 100 OFFICIAL, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer also weighed in on the subject. He said:
“If Cody’s champion, he’s gonna defend against Dwayne. That’s out unless they have Dwayne winning the Royal Rumble. Which as weird as that sounds, it’s not a non-viable situation. It would actually be gigantic if that happens.”
As of now, WWE hasn’t confirmed anything about The Rock’s return. But as with the Royal Rumble, surprises are the name of the game and the only way to know for sure is to tune in on the day. Fans will have to wait until February 1st to see what happens, but the speculation is already getting everyone pumped for one of the best events of the year.
