Is WWE planning to bring back the deceased brand NXT UK? No, but they are reportedly planning to create something very similar.
There is a sizable contingent of WWE fans who never watched NXT United Kingdom. However, there are many veterans from the brand who have gone on to have success on the WWE main roster. Stars like Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Lyra Valkyria, and Piper Niven once performed for the promotion. However, the two biggest products of NXT UK are Rhea Ripley and Gunther.
The brand’s influence on the company can’t be overlooked despite WWE shuttering it three years ago. That might be why there are rumors they are seriously considering a revival. Well, sort of. On Tuesday, PW Insider reported WWE is doing extensive talent recruitment in Europe right now. The overall goal is to cultivate a roster for the launch of a new NXT Europe brand.
There have been rumblings of creating NXT Europe and even NXT Japan at times over the last decade. But it was only hearsay. WWE has been expanding its reach around the globe via partnerships with former competitors and the creation of the WWE ID program to identify future stars over the last two years.
With Europe continuing to develop strong wrestling talent, creating an NXT brand to cover the continent makes sense. And with the company making record profits in recent years, they have the funds to make it a reality later this year.
