Update On Backstage Opinions Of Cody Rhodes As WWE Champ And Title Run Timeline Emerges

A new report has revealed the latest backstage opinions on Cody Rhodes’ time as WWE Champion, and how much longer it may last.

Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE has been one of the biggest stories in the industry over the last five years. The son of wrestling legend Dusty Rhodes was fast-tracked into a WWE career and had some success with the company in his first run. However, it became clear he hit a ceiling and was not viewed as much more than a mid-tier talent at best.

It’s why he asked for his release in 2016 and went on a personal journey to rebuild his value in the industry. He did exactly that with memorable runs in NJPW and then when he helped to found AEW. When he felt he no longer fit in All Elite Wrestling, he returned to WWE as an even bigger and better star and landed a huge contract.

Since his return two years ago at WrestleMania 39, he has been one of the top stars of the company. However, when he won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41 there were those who wondered if his time as champion could be as impactful as his efforts chasing the gold. Even some supporters have not been thrilled with his title run.

However, in the end, all that matters is what decision-makers in WWE feel about his reign. And a new update on those opinions emerged on Thursday.

On a new episode of Wrestle Votes Radio, it was reported that WWE management is “extremely happy” with “The American Nightmare’s” run holding the top championship in the company. Furthermore, there are no plans whatsoever for his time as champion to end any time soon. Holding on to the belt until at least WrestleMania 41 seems a lot more likely now.

The outlet also claimed that the company is thrilled with his performance being the face of the company. And even compared his recent run to when John Cena was the top ambassador of the brand during the 2010s.

Various rumors this year have suggested a matchup between Cody Rhodes and new rival The Rock is a favorite to serve as the main event of Night 2 at WrestleMania 41.
