Two WWE Superstars Fuel WWE Exit Speculation After Unfollowing Company on Social Media

WWE fans are freaking out after two big names, The Miz and Gunther, unfollowed WWE on social media and everyone is wondering what’s going on. The timing of it all, coming just days after a wave of releases, has only added to the speculation.

Specifically, The Miz, who’s been with WWE for almost 20 years, was the one everyone was talking about after fans noticed he no longer followed the company online. The move immediately had everyone thinking he could be the next big name to get cut after R-Truth and Carlito. He also deleted all mention of WWE on his profiles.

But a report from Fightful Select downplayed the rumors, saying there’s no indication “whatsoever that he’s been informed of his contract not being renewed.”

Similarly, Gunther’s social media behavior was the same as The Miz’s. In recent days, the Ring General has gotten rid of any WWE-related posts from his X page and only left posts about his wife Jinny. But in the same way, there’s no official word from WWE or any credible source that his status has changed.

All of this comes in the wake of several big releases. R-Truth, a fan favorite, and Carlito, who was in the middle of a Judgment Day storyline, were told their time with the company was up. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said WWE is focusing on trimming “older, less used talent” citing internal restructuring and a push to prioritize youth on the roster.

For context, R-Truth was used sparingly for comedic segments and Carlito was used more regularly. At the same time, at 44, The Miz fits the bill of what WWE is cutting right now. Though still used for media appearances and hosting duties, his in-ring work has slowed down in recent months. That, combined with the sudden social media change, is enough to raise some eyebrows.

The pieces may fit: aging star, reduced ring time, weird social media move. But for now, it still doesn’t add up. Until WWE or the talent says otherwise, it’s just a rumor that holds no real weight.
