Could AJ Styles make his long-awaited return to TNA Wrestling soon. Various reports seem to point toward that possibility.
Styles is one of TNA’s greatest performers. He won every title the company had during his era, and he took part in some of the promotion’s most important storylines and matches. However, in December 2013, “The Phenomenal One” left the company after getting a low-ball offer to re-sign.
Since then, diehard TNA fans have longed for him to return to the company he helped put on the map. When they entered a formal working relationship with WWE earlier this year, that possibility seemed as realistic as ever. Well, that moment may finally come, and soon.
“We’re moving the [Slammiversary] stage back to accommodate more fans. This event will be TNA’s greatest achievement. And trust me, it’s going to be PHENOMENAL,” Anthem President Carlos Silva wrote in a post on X this week.
The phenomenal mention has many wondering if it is a hint at Styles appearing at the July 20 event in New York. However, the company’s current top champion also fanned the flames of a long-awaited return in a new interview with PW Insider Elite.
“I told Atlanta that I’m the greatest TNA Champion of all time. And the audacity of that crowd to turn and say ‘AJ Styles’? Completely disrespectful,” Trick Williams told the outlet. “There’s only one way to get to the bottom of this. Gimme AJ Styles. Let me prove myself. Let me show everybody how legit Trick Williams is. That’s the one I want. Trick Williams versus AJ Styles.”
Williams will defend the TNA Championship in this weekend’s main event against Joe Hendry and Mike Santana.
There have also been recent reports that AJ Styles signed a one-year extension with WWE, and it will be his final contract. Fitting in a return to TNA would make a lot of sense if this is his last year in the business.
