Huge Update On Rey Fenix’s AEW Departure Revealed: Is A WWE Debut Before WrestleMania 41 Possible?

A huge new rumor claims Rey Fenix, the brother of WWE Raw star Penta, is now a free agent and could be joining his sibling very soon.

Former TNA, Lucha Underground, and AEW star Penta making his WWE debut earlier this year created a lot of buzz heading into the Raw on Netflix debut. He had been one of the best wrestlers in the world over the last decade who had not made the jump to WWE.

Well, in the weeks since his arrival the Mexican star has quickly become one of the company’s hottest acts. However, coming in as a singles star wasn’t necessarily the plan. During the summer, reports claimed that he and his brother Rey Fenix would be hitting free agency in the fall of 2024 and were expected to switch sides from AEW to WWE as a team.

Unfortunately, AEW boss Tony Khan added injury time to both men’s deals. And it meant Fenix was locked in to his deal well into 2025. But the company has not used him and has received a lot of public blowback for just letting him sit on the sidelines. That is why rumors emerged last month that the two sides had been discussing an end to their relationship.

It seems the end has come and he will be in a WWE ring very soon.

“Spoke with a WWE source regarding the Rey Fenix news making the rounds. With him being free and clear, the expectation backstage is that he joins WWE sooner rather than later,” Wrestle Votes reported after rumors emerged he received his AEW release this week.

“Source added they wouldn’t be surprised if Fenix ends up on the WM card but noted there’s no exact timeline in place.”

That is very exciting news for WWE fans that have been dying to see the Lucha Bros. in the company for years. It will be interesting to see how the promotion handles Fenix’s addition. Because his brother Penta has become an even bigger hit as a singles star than they may have expected.
