R-Truth’s WWE Exit Was Reportedly His Choice After Undervalued Offer

R-Truth’s WWE departure was a huge surprise for the WWE Universe. However, there was a chance for him to stay in the company, but Truth reportedly did not want to take it.

In the latest edition of The Coach and Bro show, former WWE employee Jonathan Coachman revealed an interesting detail. According to him, an internal source said that R-Truth was indeed offered a new contract. However, the former WWE United States Champion turned it down because the money offered was significantly lower than what he was making.

The Coach said, “I should put this out there—because I had somebody reach out to me. And reportedly, and I have not confirmed this, but reportedly they did offer R-Truth a contract that was far less money than what he was making, and he decided to turn that down. That’s what somebody told me that’s in the know. Now whether or not that’s true, I’m not sure.”

An earlier report by Dave Meltzer stated that WWE’s release of veterans like R-Truth and Carlito was part of a new strategy. This was done for the internal restructuring, and age was a factor taken into consideration while cutting talent. However, if this new update is hinting towards a different narrative. Should it be true, then R-Truth truly valued his identity and did not take the decision to settle for less than expectations.

The man who screamed ‘What’s Up’ has been deeply missed by fans. The news of the release sparked outrage among the WWE Universe. Moreover, the crowd even loudly chanted ‘We Want R-Truth’ on the latest edition of Monday Night RAW.

Before his unfortunate release, Truth was involved in a program with John Cena. It culminated in a non-title match between the duo at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to defeat Cena. A week later, he announced that WWE would not be renewing his contract.

However, with fans not taking it too kindly, it will be interesting to see if the company will reconsider this decision reportedly made by WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H. Should it happen, it should possibly be a better offer that justifies R-Truth’s status as an accomplished wrestling veteran.
