Malakai Black is reportedly headed back to WWE, and the company may have leaked his likely return date.
The man once known as Aleister Black is among the many recent AEW talents, including Ricky Saints, Miro, and Rey Fenix, who are departing the company. But even before his contract expired, there were rumblings and murmurs of plans for a WWE return. It has become a foregone conclusion to fans and analysts, and not a question of if but rather when he will be back. The “when” may have already been teased by the company.
Popular social media news account WrestleOps noticed numbers appearing in recent vignettes that seemingly portend a mysterious and impending arrival. Most assume it is related to Malakai Black. The latest contains flashes of somebody in a coat, a snake, a little smoke, and the Roman numeral for 25.
A previous video package showed the number four, which typically signifies April — the fourth month of the year. Put it together with 25, and you get 4/25, as in April 25th. Which falls on a Friday. Smackdown airs on that night, and rumors have claimed that is the brand Black will be with. Especially since his long-time girlfriend, Zelina Vega, is also on the brand.
Black, who also went by Tommy End many years ago, went by Aleister in WWE and NXT, so there’s a chance he may revert to that name. Nothing is for sure yet (like Sting used to say), but deductive reasoning leads us to believe Black by any other name will debut later this month on Smackdown.
This means WWE is saving his re-debut for after WrestleMania. Plans could change between now and then.
