WWE World Heavyweight king Gunther could retire both Goldberg and John Cena in the same year, according to a new rumor.

There has been no bigger story in pro wrestling in 2025 than Cena’s year-long retirement tour. It started with a huge twist and heel turn. A historic 17th world title reign that started at WrestleMania 41, and now taking on his greatest rivals one last time.

With the retirement tour halfway done, speculation has begun on how it will all end. Well, a new report has revealed a huge rumor on the man that will step into the ring with the WWE icon for his final bout.

X account WRKD Wrestling is reporting their sources claim none other than Gunther is tentatively scheduled to be John Cena’s last ever opponent.

This past weekend, the “Ring General” was also the final opponent of WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg. It would be surprising if the WWE Raw star is chosen to be the final foe for both wrestling icons.

However, the Austrian has been groomed to be one of the faces of the company for the next decade. Getting one match with Cena, and his final match no less, would be a big addition to his fast growing resume.

The potential matchup is also surprising because it would be a battle of two top heels against each other. But, it could potentially hint that things will come full circle. And maybe Cena will end his legendary career once again as a hero babyface.
