A new rumor offers details on why NXT is going with an unexpected title for title match between Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer at their Roadblock event in March.
International star Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer were major additions to the NXT roster in 2024. In a short amount of time they have gone from being hot free agent signings to two of the top stars in what is being heavily billed as the best women’s division in the wrestling industry.

In January, former Stardom star Giulia became the new NXT women’s champion when she defeated Roxanne Perez at New Year’s Evil in January. Then this month, Vaquer joined her as titlist when she captured the women’s North American belt at Vengeance Day. Giving the two long-time friends the top singles titles in the division.
Most fans assumed they would face each other at some point in their NXT careers. However, that day will come much sooner than anyone expected. It was announced this week that they will face each other in a winner takes all match at NXT Roadblock in March. And a new report explains why the huge matchup was scheduled so early in their NXT tenures.
Giulia reportedly will be sidelined soon from NXT due to an injury
“Without spoiling it, because if I spoil it I spoil the match. One of these women is banged up, needs time off,” Wrestling Observer Bryan Alvarez reported this week. “And so they’re doing the match and then she’s taking time off. So that’s what happened.”
The specific champion that is hurt and needs time off was then revealed soon after the Alvarez report. According to PW Insider’s Mike Johnson, Giulia is the performer dealing with an injury. This means in a matter of months, Stephanie Vaquer will become a two belt champion in WWE NXT at the March 11 event in New York.
There is a chance the company could go with an injury angle that protects Giulia. Forcing her to relinquish the title without being pinned in the ring.
