A new free-agent war has broken out between WWE and AEW as they both go after one of NJPW’s top prospects.
With quite a few NJPW contracts expiring in early 2025, several talents are weighing their options, and the competition is heating up between the big two. NJPW is reportedly negotiating to keep their key talent that is working without contracts.

However, a new report claims that a rising star on the roster is weighing potential moves to either AEW or WWE.
Is Kevin Knight about to be at the heart of a new WWE and AEW bidding war?
Former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Kevin Knight recently appeared at a ROH TV taping. According to Fightful Select, he spoke with AEW President Tony Khan and NJPW liaison Rocky Romero. He has appeared in various indie promotions since his NJPW contract expired in January, but no move has been definitive yet.
Knight’s high-flying and quick rise in the wrestling business has garnered a lot of attention, including from some WWE veterans. Natalya recently claimed he’s “really f**king good” and Hall of Famer Mark Henry said he’s “ready for the big time.”
Well, it seems a move to WWE is an option as well. While Knight is in talks for a NJPW return, he is also allegedly very interested in hearing a potential offer from the No. 1 company in the business first.
