It is clear WWE is heading towards Drew McIntyre vs Damian Priest, with a promising update on a potential match.
More: WWE Schedule 2024: King And Queen QuarterfinalsÂ
Drew McIntyre has won the WWE Championship before, but usually never with fans present. While that might seem small, the fans being there makes a huge difference. At WrestleMania 40, he did win the World Heavyweight Championship for about five minutes from Seth Rollins. He had words with CM Punk after his title win, which led to Damian Priest successfully cashing-in Money in the Bank. Within a few minutes, WWE created storylines for the next year.
Clash At The Castle is June 15 from the OVO Hydro in Scotland. Hence, McIntyre will have home field advantage for a rumored title bout. Last year, when the event debuted, McIntyre lost in the main event to then champion, Roman Reigns. If it was not for Reigns’ long title streak, then WWE likely would have put the belt on McIntyre in-front of 62,000 fans.
Big Moment From Clash At The Castle
Well, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted how those Drew and Damian should meet at Clash at the Castle. It could be a moment where McIntyre accomplishes his goal, only for Punk to be involved. CM Punk is over, but McIntyre should get a bigger pop. Either way, it will be an entertaining show from Europe. We might not even get a title change as McIntyre vs Punk does not need any belts to be elevated.
With McIntyre re-signing with WWE, that may change how he is booked. Since he will not be departing, the odds of winning gold increases. Being fired once by WWE was for the best. It allowed McIntyre to travel the world, with a stop in TNA, to sharpen his skills and become better situated with fans. Now, holding gold again only seems like a matter of time. So, any excitement with Drew McIntyre vs Damian Priest?
