The WrestleMania 41 match between Randy Orton and Kevin Owens is close to being pulled from the mega card due to an injury.
Owens has not wrestled since he faced Sami Zayn in an Unsanctioned Match at WWE Elimination Chamber on March 1st. The match was brutal and intense and ended by further setting up an ongoing storyline between KO and Orton.
The pair have had several confrontations in the weeks since as they build to a match at WrestleMania later this month. However, despite the pair and the creative staff’s best efforts, an injury could scrap those plans.
Kevin Owens reportedly has injury, could postpone Randy Orton match
According to PWN, Kevin Owens is dealing with an injury and has no return date. WWE hasn’t confirmed the injury, but internal discussions about alternative plans for Orton are underway. As of now, no replacement opponent has been booked.
The nature of the injury is unknown. WWE has been cautious in the past in situations like this and often waits until closer to the show to make an announcement. With WrestleMania only two weeks away, the clock is ticking.
With so much invested in the feud, they may postpone the match. And have it main-event an upcoming edition of WWE Smackdown. But after missing over a year due to a neck injury, “The Viper” will likely push to get on the card in some fashion with limited WrestleMania opportunities left for him in the twilight of his career.
