It was not easy, but Damian Priest left Clash At The Castle still World Heavyweight Champion against local hero, Drew McIntyre. Of course, it looked liked the Scottish Warrior was gong to leave with the gold before a referee bump. At that point, we knew CM Punk wold get involved. Punk grabbed a referee shirt and made a two count before stopping. The delay was enough for Priest to get the victory.

Although, there was a moment in the match that could have been disastrous. Priest went over the top rope, but his ankle got caught. He ended-up dangling upside-down for a few seconds until the referee and McIntyre got him out. Those seconds were scary and Priest was clearly in pain. He spoke at the post-show media scrum and noted his ankle felt like trash and he was headed to see the trainers.

During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer went over the latest update. “I actually heard from them and the preliminary news wasn’t bad,” said Melter. “They’re actually saying it’s like a miracle. It wasn’t as bad as they feared, but nothing is conclusive.” So far, the news sounds very promising. Although, it might be a day or two until he gets further medical advice. At least there was no obvious signs of a major injury.

Now, the plan is for Priest to wrestle Gunther at SummerSlam. Gunther earned the title shot by winning King of the Ring. WWE and the fans are high on Gunther, therefore a title change seems likely. Priest’s run has not been anything special and I would rather see the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion get the top prize. So, does it sound like Damian Priest somehow avoided being injured?
