Despite claiming she would never return to WWE after quitting during her second stint, a new rumor claims Gail Kim may have landed a role with NXT.
To many long-time WWE fans, Gail Kim was an underappreciated and underutilized member of the women’s division during a pair of runs in the company during the 2000s. To her supporters, she also deserves credit for helping the company reach its eventual women’s evolution over the last decade. After her second tenure with the company ended in 2011 over frustrations with her creative direction, Kim once claimed, “I have no desire to go back to WWE.”
Well, it seems things have changed. Fightful Select reported Thursday that Kim was backstage at this week’s edition of NXT. And it was not the first time she was assisting with the production of the show.
In recent years, the TNA Knockouts division legend had transitioned into a backstage role for TNA. Helping to oversee the entire women’s roster. However, after a major overhaul of the promotion’s management structure earlier this year, Kim was one of the veteran backstage talents released from the company.
Fightful claims that WWE was interested in bringing her in ever since she became available a few months ago. The report adds that she does not have an official role with the NXT yet. Nevertheless, the 48-year-old would be a fantastic addition to the company’s developmental brand. Especially at a point when NXT has one of the best women’s rosters in the industry.
