Hulk Hogan was nowhere near being close to death following a recent cervical surgery. But long-time pal Eric Bischoff reveals the WWE icon did have a “setback” after the procedure.
Earlier this week, former Hogan pal turned enemy, Bubba the Love Sponge, claimed that sources at a Florida hospital told him that the wrestling legend was in grave condition following surgery on his spine. And that relatives were being called in to say goodbye for the final time.

Many questioned the news based on the source. Well, a reliable source has finally weighed in on Hogan’s current status, and it is far more positive than the Love Sponge let on.
“I don’t think he would mind if I shared this, but you know, he’s had issues with nerve problems in his back and spine. Up in the cervical part of his neck,” Bischoff revealed on his 83 Weeks podcast [h/t WrestlingNews.co]. “And he went in because he had a difficult time feeling his hands. And he went in for surgery and came out of the anesthesia, and boom, he had feeling in his hands again. He’s really excited.”
“I think just, you know, your body can only handle so much anesthesia over a certain period of time. And he’s had a lot of anesthesia,” he added. “And I think between that and some of the prescription medication that he was on coming out of that surgery, just kind of combined and set him back a little bit. But no, the prognosis is good. You know, the rumors of the family gathering in the hospital, that’s the part that was just all bulls***.”
Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff are back working together on a new wrestling company called Real American Freestyle. However, it isn’t a professional wrestling promotion and will instead focus on amateur wrestling.
