WWE Rumors: Top SmackDown Star and Former WWE Champ Taking Long Hiatus Following SNME

Following another physical match this weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event, a new report claims Drew McIntyre is expected to be away from SmackDown for a long time.

Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest have one of the longest-running feuds in WWE right now. It all started last year when Priest cashed in on McIntyre at WrestleMania 40 to win the World Heavyweight Title. And it has extended all the way to this year’s Mania when the pair battled in a Sin City Street Fight.

McIntyre’s victory last month was expected to be the blow-off to the year-long rivalry. However, it continued as participants in a fatal-four-way for the United States Title. And then this Saturday in a Steel Cage match. However, now it seems like the feud is finally done once and for all.

On Sunday, PW Insider reported that McIntyre is expected to be taking some extended time away from the company. There had been recent rumors about him landing a notable role in an upcoming film. But his planned hiatus is not related to that and is connected to personal time he requested.

McIntyre revealed this week he has been dealing with injuries. And one has gotten bad enough that he can’t fully turn his head to the left. If the company does not have any major plans for him in the near future, it makes sense for the 39-year-old to head home to Scotland. Heal up and get ready for a big return later in the year.
