She has been one of the biggest stars in all of wrestling, and a top WWE Superstar. She’s also a mom, and married to a WWE Superstar. So, an interesting thing happened when Becky Lynch’s WWE contract was expiring earlier this year. While her husband, Seth Rollins, re-signed with WWE, she opted to let it expire and take time off. As soon as it ran out, she became the hottest free agent around. Supposedly she was handed a massive offer by a competitor, which if true would not be a major surprise.

But, at the same time, WWE and A&E worked up a Becky Lynch documentary. As the pairing has done for a number of other WWE talents and legends, Lynch was featured as part of the WWE Legends series. On one hand, it might seem a bit premature, for a number of reasons. She has not retired, she’s still relatively young and arguably has most of her career ahead of her, should she want to continue wrestling. But nevertheless, she was featured. And as it aired, Lynch posted an interesting comment to her social media. She remarked that she had a “helluva career” but now she’s focused on being a mom.

Did she just retire?

I mean, it was an interesting way to word things, for sure. I think based on everything we’ve heard that she really is content to be home and be a mother to her daughter. Nothing wrong with that, they grow up fast and when mom and dad are both top WWE Superstars, it means a lot of time away. Now, she has been making up for that.

My biggest takeaway for it is simply this. Any whispers of AEW interest probably don’t mean a whole lot. Lynch and WWE clearly have a good and strong relationship. If there was any inclination that The Man was considering becoming All Elite, I’d bet dollars to donuts that WWE would have mothballed the documentary. While nothing is etched in stone, my read on things is that Lynch will either return to WWE when she is ready, or never return at all.

And of the two, I would say she just needs and wants and deserves an extended run as The Mom. When she’s ready, she will be back in WWE. Her having an A&E biography was pretty nice. But she also isn’t the only active WWE talent getting the treatment. Meaing, there’s no reason for anyone to panic and think that this signals the end of Lynch in the ring.
