New Rumor Suggests AJ Styles’ WWE Contract Could End After WrestleMania 41: Could He Leave For AEW?

A surprising new WWE rumor suggests that AJ Styles’ contract with the company could end after WrestleMania 41 in April.

AJ Styles will go down as one of the greatest performers of his era. “The Phenomenal One” was the heart of TNA Wrestling for over a decade and won all of the promotion’s type titles. However, at a peak period in 2014, he took his talents to NJPW and had a legendary run as the leader of the Bullet Club. Becoming one of the few foreign wrestlers to win the IWGP title.

Two years later, he would depart and finally realize his dream of competing for WWE. In the near decade since Styles has cemented his spot as a legend of the company and a future member of its Hall-of-Fame. However, all good things come to an end and there have been rumblings for some time that the 47-year-old may be winding down his time in the company.

But a new report suggests the end of his run in WWE may be contract-related instead of an age-based decision.

In a new edition of Fightful Select’s WWE Raw Review podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about AJ Styles’ future in the company. And he revealed an interesting nugget of information. The multi-time world champion’s contract is set to expire very soon.

When he made his return in October, Sapp claimed he only had a few months left on his deal. However, time has been tacked on after suffering an injury in a match with Carmelo Hayes. After returning at this month’s Royal Rumble, his deal will likely end sometime right after WrestleMania 41.

If he becomes a free agent, could he take an offer from AEW? AJ Styles has suggested he would like to finish his career in WWE. However, if he gets a strong offer from their competition and WWE would rather move on from the aging legend it is not out of the question he switches sides. We should have an answer on what’s next this spring.
