The Independence edition of WWE SmackDown emanated from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The show began the build-up to WWE’s forthcoming Premium Live Events, which changed the landscape drastically.

From two major returns to a King eyeing to regain his throne, the SmackDown episode this week was an exciting show. The main event saw an explosive tag team match that saw the new and improved Bloodline standing tall.

- Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair def. The Secret Hervice (Alba Fyre & Piper Niven) and B-Fab & Michin in a triple threat tag team match.
- Andrade El Idolo & Rey Fenix defeated Fraxiom in a tag team match.
- The Wyatt Sicks (Uncle Howdy, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis & Erick Rowan) def. Berto, Montez Ford, Johnny Gargano & Chris Sabin in an eight-man tag team match.
- Jacob Fatu & Jimmy Uso def. Solo Sikoa & JC Mateo in a tag team match.
Best Match
The best match of WWE SmackDown this week was the explosive main event. It saw Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso team up to battle Solo Sikoa and J.C. Matteo. Both sides of The Bloodline produced a highly remarkable showdown that was physical and garnered loud cheers from the audience.
The ending saw Uso and Fatu pick up the win. However, Tala Tonga and Tonga Loa save Solo Sikoa as he was about to be put through a table by Jacob Fatu. The new Bloodline instead put him through a table and stood over the fallen Samoan Werewolf to end SmackDown this week.
Worst Match
The eight man tag team match did not garner much reaction except The Wyatt Sicks chilling entrance and their win over their opponents. It was a lackluster match from the entire card of WWE SmackDown this week.
Noteworthy Moments
A prime highlight was the return of WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. The Diva of the Decade came out after Tiffany Stratton challenged her to a WWE Women’s Championship match at Evolution 2 while Jade Cargill was also in the ring. She accepted, and the match was made official.
Another highlight was Drew McIntyre’s return in the opening of WWE SmackDown. He interrupted an in-ring segment between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. As he mocked both individuals, Orton planted him with an RKO. Nick Aldis later made a match between Orton and McIntyre for the July edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
One more noteworthy moment saw the team of Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair emerge victorious in their first match as a team. They defeated the team of Alba Fyre & Piper Niven and B-Fab & Michin to earn a spot in the Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE Tag Team Championships at Evolution 2.
In the show’s opening segment, before Drew McIntyre appeared, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton reflected back on their match in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament. Orton asked Rhodes to promise him that he would beat John Cena and take back the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Holy Sh!@ Moments
The only Holy Sh!@ Moment from WWE SmackDown was Johnny Gargano refusing to take a tag from Chris Sabin during the eight-man tag team match. He dropped off the mat and let his team lose to The Wyatt Sicks.
Lowlights
Andrade El Idolo and Rey Fenix continued their commaradery as a tag team this week. After beating DIY last week on WWE SmackDown, they displayed an excellent partnership to beat Fraxiom in an exciting tag team match.
Another lowlight was Naomi reigniting her tensions with Jade Cargill. After she had a talk with Trish Stratus backstage, Ms Money in the Bank attacked her with her briefcase and Cargill asked Nick Aldis for a match against her.
What’s in store for WWE SmackDown next week
Two matches were announced for WWE SmackDown next week. Ron “The Truth” Killings will battle Aleister Black following their weeks of tensions. On the other hand, The Wyatt Sicks will challenge The Street Profits for the WWE Tag Team Championships in a tag showdown.
