Jumping right into our SmackDown results for September 27th, 2024, one can’t help but notice some tension before Bad Blood.

Quick Results:

  • Bayley defeated Naomi to earn a shot at Nia Jax. That title match happens at Bad Blood. I am curious if the tension between friends is going somewhere, because otherwise why do that match?
  • Shockingly (not really), Carmelo Hayes wins over Andrade. That means the two are even, three matches apiece, in what started as a singles match and morphed into a best of seven. LA Knight may have had a hand in the finish, which will feed into the Knight/Andrade match coming our way.
  • Michin scored a big win over Piper Niven
  • Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu got the win over Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. The finish came thanks to outside interference, both from the Guerillas and from Cody Rhodes. Rhodes getting involved added tension to he and KO, but Orton played peacemaker…for now.

Best Match:

You have Carmelo and Andrade, this is almost becoming automatic. I could write next week’s results now and say their match stole the show. Probably. I won’t, but I bet I could.

Best Other Match:

Rather than do a worst match (especially because there wasn’t really one), it’s the best match not featuring Hayes or Andrade. And there were some choices to be sure. For one, Naomi and Bayley was better than expected. And if I talk about the main event, it was enjoyable too. Lots going on, builds toward Bad Blood and of course, more teased issues between Rhodes and Owens.

The issues between Cody and Kevin are getting heated, but also funny. Like, in the opening segment, Cody wasn’t happy he couldn’t make it a six man tag, but KO wanted none of it. Backstage, Cody wanted to talk and Owens was like, not now, don’t come out tonight either. Orton played peacemaker and was like, if the Tongans come out, we need you, I will talk to Kevin. He came out and we got a tense end to SmackDown.

Aside from some of that already being used with New Day? It does further what we know is going on, and should keep things moving.

Big tag title match next week-Profits, DIY and the Bloodline in a ladder match? Yes please.

Holy $@% Moments:

Some of those moves in the Andrade/Hayes clash were insane. That slam by Andrade, who was between the ropes, on Carmelo…who was on the apron? It was just nuts.

Lowlights:

Show only being two hours?

Highlights:

Opening segment was a tone-setter and things went from there. I wonder with how things are going, if it would be Rhodes or Orton who turns, not Kevin Owens. Many of us are eagerly anticipating how this goes, that’s for sure.

After The Final Bell:

And just like that, our latest SmackDown results are a wrap. We have one more show until Bad Blood, and most all of the hype is done. Just a couple more hours-not even, really-before it’s time for the big PLE. Mentally, I am ready for it to go down this weekend, but we can’t always get what we want.
