- Michin defeats Tiffany Stratton, moving to the US Title finals.
- Braun Strowman defeats Carmelo Hayes
- LA Knight gets a DQ win over Solo Sikoa
- Chelsea Green defeats Bayley and moves on to face Michin for the new US title Saturday.
Best Match:
I like seeing Chelsea over Bayley. I suspect Green will get gold on Saturday too.
Worst Match:
Hayes and Strowman, if only because it was really random.
Noteworthy Moments:
Nick Aldis tells Bianca that due to Jade’s injury, the tag titles must be vacated. Conveniently, Naomi said no way, she will tag with Bianca instead. I know we saw this a couple of years back, involving a couple of Hall of Famers…how did that work out?
McIntyre continues his tear, taking out Jimmy Uso after a nice promo from Jimmy.
Braun Strowman is back and now apparently on SmackDown, showing up as Carmelo’s mystery opponent.
Holy Sh!@ Moments:
As had been rumored, Roman Reigns is wrestling on the Netflix debut on January 6. He has challenged Solo Sikoa to a tribal combat battle, with the ula fala on the line. Assuming Solo accepts.
LA Knight calling it an oofa loffa. What’s next, a loofa waffa?
Not sure if Apollo Crews got a promotion, or the new Bloodline is temporarily demoted? But a six-man against Crews, Knight, and Andrade seems looming, does it not?
Did not think Candace would be the wedge to help finish the Tiffy turn, but that does seem to be what’s happening, doesn’t it? LaRae gets her and Nia the women’s tag title match for next week, which should be interesting.
Lowlights:
I feel bad for the WWE fans in attendance, maybe, because this was a double taping. Plus it has to be tough, not just a double…but a double with a major event between the SmackDown TV airings.
Highlights:
Good recorded segment from Reigns, that sets up Netflix, especially since between now and then, there won’t be much new live.
Liked the semifinals of the United States Championship tournament. The final features two very deserving women who have not yet been singles champs. Hard to dislike that.
After The Final Bell:
Not bad for a combo of a go-home SmackDown and what will end up being the pre-Christmas edition of the show as well. Looking forward to Saturday Night’s Main Event now!
