Joe Gacy defeated Shawn Spears

Before the main card, we got a match tossed together earlier in the week. Before hand, Ridge Holland returned and attacked Joe Gacy. It did not matter as the former leader of Schism pinned the former AEW wrestler. This could have been saved for Tuesday night.

NXT Tag Team Championship: Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker defeated Axiom & Nathan Frazer

Last year, Bron Breakker was in the main event and this year he opened the main card. Axiom & Nathan Frazer brought the high-flying spots, with the champions relying on their strength. Breakker and Baron Corbin retained, meaning the future of Breakker is still unclear. He is part of SmackDown, but still has a NXT belt with no signs of the two dropping them.

NXT North American Championship: Oba Femi defeated Dijak and Josh Briggs

A few months ago, nobody heard of Oba Femi. Yes, he has improved and is still the North American Champion. The match started slow before the three massive wrestlers picked-up the pace. Plenty of cool spots, like the corner one where all three were stacked. Josh Briggs and Femi are still sloppy inside the ring, with Dijak continuing to shine.

Thea Hail, Fallon Henley, and Kelani Jordan defeated Jacy Jayne, Kiana James and Izzi Dame

This match felt squeezed in there as Takeover never features more than 5 matches. The major angle was Thea Hail trying to get her hands on Jacy Jayne. While the match was fine, I would have rather seen one of the title matches get more time.

NXT Women’s Championship: Roxanne Perez defeated Lyra Valkyria

For over a year, Roxanne Perez has tried to regain her NXT Women’s Championship. Remember, she never lost the title as she was stripped due to a storyline medical issue. This time, Perez has embraced the heel persona and she makes it work. We might see Lyra Valkyria get a rematch, maybe a gimmick bout like Ambulance Match. Or, she could easily transition to the main roster after WrestleMania 40.

NXT Championship: Ilja Dragunov defeated Tony D’Angelo

Tony D’Angelo is back in the title scene, although he was unable to defeat Ilja Dragunov. We did see D’Angelo’s acquaintances try to have him use the brass knuckles, but he would not oblige. I see The Family turning on D’Angelo sooner than later. Another great title defense from Dragunov.

Trick Williams defeated Carmelo Hayes

When a non-title match closes the show, that means the storyline is that good. Personally, I do not see what Trick Williams brings to the table. He gets a huge ovation from the fans and the Philly crowd loved him. The match was nothing special and the ending was anticlimactic.
