1. John Cena

Despite running down fans on a weekly basis, the WWE universe can’t help but love evil John Cena. While his record-setting title win at WrestleMania did not come in a very good match, he still remains one of the company’s most interesting characters.

However, he made up for the match shortcomings in April with a classic against Randy Orton at Backlash. The bout saw referees knocked out, kickouts from finishes, tables, and even a surprise R-Truth appearance. It showed that at nearly 50, the Hollywood star can still be a part of thrilling singles matches.

2. Seth Rollins

WrestleMania 41 set up a huge course change for Seth Rollins. Instead of being one of the most beloved good guys on the roster, he formed a new alliance with Paul Heyman and recruited Bron Breakker as his enforcer. In the weeks since, he has evolved into Raw’s top bad guy and a must-watch character as his grandest plan for the company yet is slowly unveiled.

3. Randy Orton

Randy Orton has been on a roll over the last couple of months. He dominated TNA champion Joe Hendry at WrestleMania and remained strong in the build-up to his “one last time” clash with Cena at Backlash. While he came up short in his hometown, he and the current WWE champ put on a highly entertaining match. Showing there is still a good bit left in the two old dogs.

4. Gunther

One of the best matches at Backlash was Gunther’s scrap with announcer Pat McAfee. Not because it was a mat wrestling masterpiece, but because of the great storytelling and toughness shown. And all the credit must go to the man leading the dance, Gunther. He played the role of evil villain perfectly and has kept himself strong following his upset loss at ‘Mania 41.

5. Jey Uso

While some weren’t in love with the idea of a Jey Uso title win at WrestleMania, no one can deny how over he is with the audience. His merchandise sales and fan interactions weekly prove that. However, he is an underrated in-ring performer. He doesn’t deliver bangers every week, but he has been part of some great matches over the last year. Furthermore, his world title defense against Seth Rollins on last week’s Raw was outstanding and explains why he is a no-doubt main event performer.

6. CM Punk

While he hasn’t wrestled in a match since ‘Mania, Punk has remained a key part of WWE Raw and the emergence of Rollins as the brand’s top bad guy. He is helping to further the storyline and adds more layers to his deep rivalry with the “Revolutionary.” Plus, his line calling Rollins a “Temu CM Punk” was the best of the month.

7. Jacob Fatu

Despite being a nasty heel, Jacob Fatu is fast becoming one of the most popular performers on the roster. He is shockingly athletic for his size and is a very believable character who has connected with the audience. Despite being in the ring with fan-favorites LA Knight and Damian Priest at Backlash, the “Fatu” chants were loud. Furthermore, his growing issues with “friend” Solo Sikoa are one of the better storylines right now on SmackDown.

8. Dominik Mysterio

Boy, Dominick Mysterio has come a very long way since tagging with his father several years ago. For the last couple of years, he was one of the best bad guys on WWE Raw. However, he has started to get a lot of cheers of late, and the unthinkable is starting to happen. We could soon get baby face, Dom Mysterio. Either way, he remains one of the brand’s most entertaining characters and continues to become one of its best in-ring performers.

9. Lyra Valkyria

Lyra Valkyria was already one of the best female wrestlers in WWE. She proved that in NXT and has been very good on the main roster. However, her character bordered on goody-goody, and that is a big no-no with fans right now. But she delivered in a big way in her new feud with “The Man.” She has added the confidence and a bit of cockiness necessary to connect with modern fans. Now, she is not only a damn good wrestler but a character that has gotten way more interesting in recent weeks.

10. Fraxiom

If you have watched NXT over the last two years, you know how amazing Fraxiom is. But audiences who only watch main roster content are quickly seeing why the former NXT tag champs are, arguably, the best team in the world. All three of their matches on SmackDown have gotten “this is awesome” chants. That is important because WWE has a large casual fan audience that cares more about drama than matches.

On last week’s SmackDown, they got a fantastic match out of the Street Profits, and scoring a win over the champs shows how big management is on Nathan Frazer and Axiom.
