A new report claims that a planned WWE NXT premium live event that was set for Savannah, GA has surprisingly been moved to the headquarters of sister promotion the UFC.

WWE NXT has developed a rock-solid following over the last decade and has maintained it in recent years despite not being the traveling show it once was or the last stop for elites from the independents before moving on to the main roster.

However, under the guidance of Shawn Michaels, the brand seems to be in the midst of a new evolution, and doing more shows outside the WWE Performance Center has become a lot more common. Especially for special PLE cards. Which was what they were set to do in May for NXT Battleground.

The PLE was expected to take place at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia on May 26. However, that is no longer the case according to the popular X, formerly Twitter, account WrestleVotes.

“Hearing rumblings of a significant schedule change, I’m told the NXT Battleground event will be moving off May 26th to June 9th,” the account wrote. “With the location shifting as well as Savanna, GA will no longer host the show. NXT Battleground will take place live in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex.”

This is a surprising decision but also shows the continued synergy we have seen and will continue to see between WWE and UFC after their merger and the formation of their parent company TKO Group Holdings.

The UFC Apex has become the home of many UFC Fight Night cards monthly and the 500-seat venue has almost exclusively been used for that purpose. This would be the first major pivot away from just UFC cards and bringing in another major brand to house an event.

Furthermore, this could be the early stages of Las Vegas becoming another major hub for upcoming WWE events.
