Despite becoming a top star on the independent scene, it seems WWE still has zero interest in signing Matt Cardona.
Cardona has become a top name on the indies since his WWE release in April of 2021. He has reinvented himself from his days as Zack Ryder and has increased his popularity with diehard wrestling fans exponentially. He has had the sort of success that always leads to a WWE return. However, in a new interview, he revealed that the company has shown no interest in him despite checking in often about a potential return.
“So many people from the office or other wrestlers ask, ‘Hey, man, when are you coming back?’ It’s like, I don’t know. I’ve reached out many times,” Cardona revealed to Chris VanVliet. “I shouldn’t say many, a few times, every couple months, when something cool happens or I have something to say, ‘Hey, look what I’m doing.’

“There’s been no offer. Everything’s very nice, professional, but there’s no offer. And you know what, it is what it is, I’m gonna keep working my ass off.”
While he admitted he is always ready for a potential return as Zach Ryder at each year’s Royal Rumble, he claims he has never been more successful, and it is because the company chose to cut him five years ago.
“I don’t care how you define success, money, accolades, happiness. This is the most successful I’ve ever been in my career as Matt Cardona,” he said. “But it’s because Zack Ryder and WWE set me up for that.”
