Potential WWE Bash in Berlin Spoiler Emerges Following Surprise Update About Kevin Owens’ Contract Status

Predicting big WWE storylines in the second half of 2024

A new rumor about Kevin Owens’ WWE contractual status is a huge spoiler for his title match at this month’s Bash in Berlin card.

We are just days away from WWE taking their red-hot product abroad again for a pair of events in Germany. Smackdown and Saturday’s Bash in Berlin card will see rare televised events in the European nation and it will be a homecoming of sorts for Austian, and World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther.

The card for the premium live event will be stacked with several interesting matchups. Including WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes defending his belt against pal Kevin Owens. Most assumed the pivot to that match was a chance for them to share the ring again. And explore the idea of friends fighting for the company’s top title.

However, the matchup may be an attempt at one last match before Owens potentially leaves the company. On Monday, Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown revealed some huge details about Owen’s current WWE contract status.

“He tells The Takedown that the only change in his contract status since [the spring] is that there’s now less time on his deal,” the outlet wrote. “It would be incredibly difficult to imagine a world where WWE and Owens don’t reach an extension agreement at some point in the near future.

“While KO has publicly expressed his desire to stay with the company, he also continues to prove his value to WWE with each passing week.”

In a May report, it was revealed that “KO” only had nine months left on his current WWE contract. And was in talks about a new deal. Owens was not expected to upset Rhodes at Bash in Berlin. But this news seems to guarantee he will lose on Saturday and there will be no surprise upset.

If Owens were to hit the open market, he is sure to be pursued by AEW. Where long-time pals the Young Bucks are vice presidents of the company.
