An accidental fall on Saturday led to a serious gash on Tommaso Ciampa’s chin. And to stitch up the wound, the former tag team champion had to shave off his trademark beard.
Bears in professional wrestling are as common as slams and suplexes. Nearly every major star sports one. Be it Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, or Jacob Fatu, it seems like half the current roster has a beard. However, some are different and more unique than others.
NXT legend Tommaso Ciampa’s scraggly beard is a major part of his character and overall look. A fan can’t really fathom the idea of him without one. They would have to go back to his July 14, 2005, appearance on SmackDown when he portrayed Thomas Whitney, ESQ, one of Muhammad Hassan’s lawyers. Well, WWE fans can see a clean-shaven Ciampa now.
Tommaso Ciampa shaves off beard after suffering nasty gash
On his Instagram account, Ciampa revealed a stunning image. A picture of him with no beard whatsoever. “DIY Warning: graphic images ahead. Full Transparency: I had a fall this morning. I’m okay. But my beard is not,” he wrote in the post.
The post also includes pictures of the ugly gash he suffered from the accidental fall. It can be assumed that doctors required him to shave off his beard so they could properly treat the deep cut and then apply stitches. WWE fans did not have a clean-shave Tommaso Ciampa on their WrestleMania weekend bingo card, but pro wrestling is always full of surprises.
