John Cena has battled multiple iconic names in WWE, including fellow icon The Rock. The two poster boys of WWE’s different generations clashed twice at WrestleMania.
During an appearance at the Fan Expo Denver, the current WWE champ addressed the possibility of one final showdown with “The Final Boss” on his farewell tour. Cena stated that it would be great to have one last dance against The Rock in WWE.

“Gosh. Fantasy booking. For those who are not inside baseball, fantasy booking is when you take an idea in your head and you’re like, ‘Man, it would be cool if…’ That’s what I’m hearing here,” he said. “‘Man, it would be cool if John Cena could fight The Rock one more time.’ And that, to me, that would be cool.”
At the same time, Cena also made it clear that setting expectations was not his style.“I’ve survived and kept a level head over 25 years in the WWE by not setting expectations, by showing up every single day, doing what I’m told, and asking to do it to the best of my ability,” added Cena.
The Rock and John Cena stood side by side at the end of the 2025 WWE Elimination Chamber PLE. The Final Boss signaled Cena, who then took out Cody Rhodes and shocked the world by turning heel. Since then, The Rock has not appeared on WWE television, while Cena went on to defeat Rhodes to win his record-setting 17th World Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
Moreover, John Cena has only a few months left on his farewell tour. He is set to have a rematch against Cody Rhodes at the upcoming WWE SummerSlam PLE. With no signs of The Rock returning to the company, the chance of seeing Cena vs Rock one last time is looking slim at the moment. However, as they say in wrestling, ‘Never Say Never.’
