It seems that WWE icon The Rock thought Hornswoggle was a visitor from the Make-A-Wish foundation the first time he met him. Despite already having appeared on WWE TV.
There have been many unique individuals who have been on the WWE roster for short periods of time but made lasting impressions. Performers like Zach Gowen or The Boogeyman. Another is fan-favorite little person Hornswoggle. What he could do at his size made him a beloved character with fans. However, that same size actually fooled The Rock into thinking he was a far younger person following his debut in 2006.
In a new interview with Chris VanVliet, he recalled the first time he met the future Hollywood superstar. He was understandably nervous, but he let the multi-time champion know how much he respected him as a performer and was thankful he was back in the locker room following another hiatus to film a movie. However, “The Final Boss’s” response was not what Hornswoggle expected.
“He extends his arm out and goes, ‘Did you have a good time tonight, buddy?'” he relived. “I go, ‘Oh no. He doesn’t realize I work here.’”
Hornswoggle then claimed that he filled co-worker Kofi Kingston in on the awkward meeting. Hoping the future WWE champion would lift him up after the embarrassing moment. However, Kingston immediately texted “97 people” about what happened. Word spread, and the former WWE star was inundated with texts. With some asking if The Rock thought he was a Make-A-Wish kid.
He then added that fellow legend The Big Show asked The Rock about the moment. While he tried to deny it at first, he admitted he didn’t watch the show and had no idea Hornswoggle was a part of the roster at that time.
